Fear 04 – Sing national song (Negaraku) in front of the Embassy
What's the challenge?
To sing Malaysia national song – Negaraku , publicly (not those school time perhimpunan one okay LOL).
What are you afraid of?
Fear of embarrassing myself to even sing any song in public. First is that feeling to sing a song in public in a sober situation LOL. Secondly is to sing my national song in public (sorry I don't really sing our national song other than school assembly time) and now I've to sing it alone out loud at public...
How was the experience?
I've to admit, this was not part of my fear list initially as I did not think of singing our national song in public. It was first started by my dear mentor & friend (boo sista) – Siok, sent me a link, asking me to sing our national song and upload to BOH campaign site... At first, I was reluctant to do so because I know I scared / shy / it's so paiseh.
That's where I recognize... oh shit, that's my fucking fear! *pop.
Being kiasu enough, I decided to up the game. Instead of recording myself singing in my own room, I decided to go out, and sing it in front of Malaysia Embassy at Singapore.
I woke up at 5:45am to prep and took train etc to reach the Embassy of Malaysia. Arrived slightly too early so waited outside for about 30mins to wait for more people to pass by actually. But gotta time limit myself as I gotta head back to work after that (now my HR know why I was late :x). I was expecting more queue or crowd at registration area but unfortunately not really thou.
The initial plan was actually to do it solo. Then right after I completed my solo, that was where I gained confidence and another idea popped up – why not approach dear Malaysian to join me since there are Malaysians around me now!
So, I tried (two attempts) to approach uncle aunty to see whether are they ok to join my challenge but haha I got rejected boohoo. My last hope was this young girl named Laurane and surprisingly, she agreed to help me out! We sang faster and faster because we noticed there're people around watching us hahaha. Nonetheless, it was really nervous and exciting to approach strangers to join me.
Huge thanks to Laurane for making my day and my challenge complete! You're the bomb girl! :D
